Traffic restrictions on large vehicles will be extended by another day, remaining in place for Monday, after already operating over the weekend. These restrictions will also extend to other administrative areas.
In addition to the restrictive measures established for the interval 25-26.08.2023, in the time interval 11:00 – 20:00, they will be extended by one more day, namely Monday – 28.08.2023, between the same hours.
These regulations apply to vehicles whose total authorized weight exceeds 7.5 tons, on the national road, express roads and highways sectors in the Municipality of Bucharest, as well as in the counties: Călărași, Ilfov, Giurgiu, Teleorman, Olt, Dolj, Mehedinți, Caraș-Severin, Timiș, Arad, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Brașov, Bihor, Cluj, Mureș, Sălaj, Bistrita Nasăud, Satu Mare, Maramureș, Suceava, Botoșani, Neamț, Iasi, Bacău, Vaslui, Vrancea and Galati, according to CNAIR .
These restrictive measures are imposed in the context of warnings regarding high temperatures issued by the National Meteorological Administration, for Code Yellow and Code Orange phenomena, periods of intense heat, heat wave and accentuated thermal discomfort.
“The measure is adopted for the protection and conservation of road sectors with bituminous coating, respectively for the prevention of major irreversible deformations (which also involve the loss of stability of road layers) that may occur on the road network, as a result of heavy traffic in hot weather conditions”, it is also stated in the CNAIR press release.
Exceptions to the rule, according to CNAIR
Exempted from these restrictions are cars that transport passengers, the transport of live animals and perishable products of animal and vegetable origin, vehicles involved in emergency situations, funeral transports, postal transports, transports of first aid medical equipment, those for the distribution of fuels, the transport of goods that require thermal control, those for towing damaged vehicles, water and food transports in areas affected by calamities, as well as transports with specialized vehicles intended for sanitation.
Moreover, the machinery belonging to CNAIR, including those rented from companies with which CNAIR has contracts for ongoing works, also belong to the category in question.
