The most fattening fruits. Mihaela Bilic has sounded the alarm on these foods that we consider healthy, but which are, in fact, a great enemy in terms of weight. Many Romanians consume them in large quantities, without knowing how many calories they contain.
Very fattening fruits. Romanians love them
Whether you’re trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, choosing the right foods is essential. Fruit is an important part of a balanced and healthy diet, but it’s important to know that not all fruit is the same when it comes to calorie content and sugar intake.
Mihaela Bilic explained how things are in this regard, stating that some fruits are consumed in excess, although they make you fat. An apple, strawberries or an orange – all these can lead to weight gain, once eaten in too large quantities.
When we consume excessive amounts of fruit, we introduce a significant amount of sugar into the body, which can overload the liver and ultimately contribute to the accumulation of fat in the abdominal area.
“Fruit sugar is processed exclusively in the liver and if we exceed an intake of 50g/day we risk a metabolic imbalance with the appearance of fat deposits on the abdomen and an increased level of triglycerides in the blood.
Where does fructose come from? From fruit, honey and sugar, which is a mixture of glucose and fructose. In order not to tire the liver and wake up with a fat roll on the belly, we must reduce the consumption of honey and sugar,” said the nutritionist.
Fruits with the highest fructose content
Mihaela Bilic revealed which fruits have the highest fructose content. Thus, melons and grapes occupy the first positions according to the specialist. They can help you gain weight faster!
“The champion fruits for fructose content are cherries, melons and grapes. Although it still has 4 cal/g like meat proteins and flour starch, fructose is more fattening than the calories it contains,” explained the nutritionist.

Mihaela Bilic also says that fruits should be consumed as such, not transformed into juices or purees, because fructose is absorbed gradually and in smaller quantities. Thus, instead of making juice, it is better to consume an orange with all the pulp.
