Hoteliers from the southern coast have complained about the large number of checks carried out during the recently ended summer season. The Destination Management Organization (OMD) Mangalia reported on Monday that the checks had consequences for businesses.

According to the Organization, during the 60 days of the summer season, they received almost 50 controls from the competent control bodies. All these checks caused “financial blockages and difficulties in the relationship with tourists”. The notifications of the economic agents were taken over by the county prefect to be forwarded to the governors.
“Economic agents from the tourist resorts of the southern coast, gathered at the annual meeting of the Mangalia Destination Management Organization, complained about the large number of controls from the state institutions, during the recently ended summer season, which caused financial blockages and difficulties in the relationship with tourists.
The Prefect of Constanța took over all the notifications from the economic agents and gave assurances that he will convey their grievances to the representatives of the Romanian Government”, according to a press release sent by OMD Mangalia.
Projects for the development of tourism on the Romanian coast
The representatives of the local administration discussed initiatives for the development of seaside tourism, including the extension of the summer season and the development of Tuzla Airport.
“Other topics of discussion concerned the expansion of the beaches, as well as the streamlining of transport to the south of the coast (…) In this sense, deputy Marian Cruşoveanu mentioned that several projects at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, which will most likely start in 2024, such as:
The Techirghiol alternative, with a completion period of 36 months, the modernization of a county road that reaches the coast, through the Albeşti area, the realization of some major infrastructure works at Eforie Nord (passages, tunnels) that will streamline road traffic in the summer season.
For his part, the deputy Bogdan Huţucă explained (…) that the Government took into account the complaints of the Federations and Patronages in tourism, and the vouchers in HORECA will be maintained next year as well”, the mentioned press release states.
