Two young men, husband and wife, decided to quit their jobs in the medical field and open their own business. THEY decided to invest in fruit cultivation, so that today, 10 years later, they have reached 20,000 square meters of cultivation.
The business from scratch that brought success to the two husbands
Simona and Andrei Torgie, from Sălaj county, decided to enter the field of fruit cultivation ten years ago, when they noticed that there was a great demand on the market for strawberries, raspberries or currants. Despite the fact that they had no experience in this field, they did not get discouraged and laid the foundations of TSA Fruct, a very successful business today.
Thus, they began to cultivate strawberries on an area of about 2,500 square meters, reaching today an area of over 20,000 square meters with red currants, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries,
“We worked in the medical field and we thought of producing something healthy. We started with a fairly small area, somewhere around 2,500 square meters of strawberry greenhouses and then we expanded until we reached an area of over 20,000 square meters with red currants, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries and we have fruit including in November or December”, said Andrei Torgie, according to zf.ro.
Where do they sell the products?
The production is sold in retail stores and small stores in Cluj, but it is also sold through ROA – Roade Online in Ardeal. This is an initiative launched by a group of producers from Cluj and its surroundings, with the help of which local producers sell their products directly to consumers.
“In ROA we are somewhere around 30 producers with different products. It’s a very nice community and there we tried to adapt a new style of marketing, that is, always ordering them so that there is no waste, to always be calculated. We entered ROA almost two years ago and it helped us a lot to develop, to get to know our people”, the man also said.
The entrepreneur also told that they ended up making fruit nectars, which they also use through the aprozars and the ROA group. Thus, the investment today amounts to approximately 50,000 euros
“We started with an initial investment of around 18,000 euros, but along the way we exceeded the amount of 50,000 euros invested in the purchase of land for crops, in the establishment of new crops, trellis, anti-hail system, etc.”, said Andrei Torgie .

What plans do they have for the future?
In the coming years, the two entrepreneurs want to continue to develop, so they plan to make a bigger processing line so as to expand the range of products with jams, syrups, etc.
They are also thinking of opening a grocery store, as they are still in high demand today.
“We are thinking of opening a grocery store because we saw that they are in demand. At the moment it’s just a plan, in the grocery store we were thinking of having sausages and cheeses, and the customers we talked to suggested we have more products, not just nectars”, concluded the entrepreneur.
