Angelika Maurer, 25 years old, who was reported missing since mid-February still appears in the “missing persons” section of the Romanian Police. For seven months, the family has not known anything about the young woman, and the “physical searches in the field” will be resumed if new information appears regarding her disappearance, the representatives of IPJ Sibiu sent at the request of Playtech.ro.
The Theology student from Sibiu is missing after 7 months
Angelika Maurer was reported missing by her family on February 8 and was searched for days by police, divers and volunteers.
The young woman was a student in the Department of Protestant Theology at the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu, and the last time she was caught by the surveillance cameras in the city, the images were published in March by the local press.
According to the footage, she left alone from the student dormitory where she lived, and from Victoriei Boulevard continued her route on Calea Poplăcii towards Dumbrava Forest. These were the last images of the young woman.
For a month the authorities searched the area, made checks, talked to relatives, friends or college professors, but no one said anything to advance the investigation. The girl was withdrawn and says the family had no disputes with anyone. He wouldn’t even have a boyfriend.
Who did Angelika meet last time? The images captured by the surveillance cameras
On February 24, the police found several of her personal items in a forest. At the same time, the girl’s brother declared for Digi24 that before the girl disappeared she would have met a college colleague.
“The last conversation we know of was with a college classmate the day before the disappearance. It was an amicable discussion that should not have had such a consequence. She is more of an introvert, she didn’t have many friends and she didn’t communicate with us very often either.
But when we saw each other over the holidays and during the last phone conversations, everything seemed fine. He never hinted that he had a bigger problem. She was very focused on finishing college,” said Victor Maurer, the missing girl’s brother.

“At the moment, physical searches are not being carried out in the field, however, when new information regarding the disappearance appears and if the situation requires it, the field searches will be resumed!
Case workers periodically perform checks in the databases of the Romanian police, comparisons in specific applications and other activities in order to obtain new information leading to the location and identification of the missing person”, IPJ Sibiu representatives sent in a response to Playtech. ro.
So far, authorities have found no evidence that the girl was a victim of violence, and the family denies that the girl could have harmed herself. The local press, but also people on the Internet compared the case with that of the famous lawyer Elodia Ghinescu.
