Elon Musk accuses Soros foundation before meeting Israeli PM Netanyahu.
Thus, the owner of X (formerly Twitter) comments on his platform as he prepares to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Elon Musk has accused George Soros’ foundation of wanting to destroy Western civilization as the tech mogul prepares to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in California.
Musk made the comment in response to a post by a user sharing images of people arriving from North Africa on the Italian island of Lampedusa, referring to a “George Soros-led invasion” of Europe.
What Elon Musk said
“The Soros organization seems to want nothing less than the destruction of Western civilization,” posted the owner of social media recipe X, writes The Guardian.
Soros, a Hungarian-American businessman and philanthropist, has been the subject of several anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
Open Society Foundations, which supports civil society groups, including some working on issues affecting the safety and well-being of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, is a common target of the far right.
Musk has been accused by civil rights groups of amplifying anti-Semitism on his platform – something he denies. He will meet with Netanyahu on Monday for talks that both said will focus on artificial intelligence technology, and not the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), with which Musk is feuding over anti-Semitism against X.
However, the Washington Post reported last week that the meeting was the latest step in a campaign by Musk’s Jewish friends and allies to deflect growing criticism of increasing anti-Semitic speech on X.
Musk threatened to sue the ADL, a US civil rights group that campaigns against anti-Semitism and bigotry, and accused it of trying to “kill” the platform by “falsely accusing her and me of being anti-Semitic.”
Civil rights groups, including the Center to Combat Digital Hate and the ADL, have issued findings that the volume of hate speech on X has increased under Musk’s leadership.
