The City Hall of the Capital warns drivers who forget to pay for their parking space. Therefore, those who leave their car in specially arranged places in Bucharest, but do not pay the five lei per hour, risk receiving fines of up to 2,500 lei. This is what the project is about.
Big fines for drivers who don’t pay for parking
Bad news for drivers in the Capital, who do not pay the parking fee of 5 lei/hour. Vice-mayor Stelian Bujduveanu comes up with a proposal for a bill by which they can become liable to a fine of up to 2,500 lei. It is to be debated in Thursday’s meeting of the General Council of the Capital.
According to the current provisions, those who “forget” to pay the tax and are caught receive a fine of 200 lei (notice of finding), and must pay it within 15 days. If the amount is not paid, the Parking Company sends an information to the local Police regarding this matter.
Local cops, keeping an eye on them
Thus, according to the project that amends and completes HCGMB 95/2018 regarding the approval of the Regulation of the public service for the administration of parking lots, local police officers will be able to fine individuals with amounts between 1,500 and 2,500 lei, and legal entities with amounts between 3,000 and 5,000 lei.

“Firm measures”
Stelian Bujduveanu, the initiator of the project, mentioned in the approval sheet that the implementation of the parking strategy requires a set of firm measures that are useful and effective.
“Whereas the establishment of the penalties established as interest damages through the finding note drawn up by the operator of the public parking management service belonging to the public and private domain of the Municipality of Bucharest, through which the non-payment of the parking fee in advance by the users was ascertained, not – has proven the efficiency and effectiveness within the system of measures aimed at regulating parking activity on the territory of the Municipality of Bucharest, it is necessary to introduce a new regulation, which will not have a coercive purpose, but will have a deep social character through the effects generated in the long term in the life of the city”, the document also states.
