News culture With a budget of more than 100 million, this American sci-fi series was filmed 2 hours from Paris. Season 2 was a hit in 2023
While season 2 was released this year, this sci-fi series is a big hit and here is where it was filmed.
Foundation is an Apple TV series filmed just two hours from Paris. For those who don’t know, it is a science fiction project based on the novel Cycle de Foundation d’Isaac Asimov. The plot focuses on a Galactic Empire in which the Cleons – a long line of ruling clones – fear for their rule. In order to limit the damage to the future of society, Dr. Seldon and certain comrades are sent into the galaxy to build the Foundation. This place will aim to preserve the knowledge of civilization.
The series team was therefore filmed in different locations, including one not so far from Paris. It is more precisely two hours from the French capital, and yet is not in France. Production takes place in Limerick, Ireland. For the other countries where filming took place: Malta, some islands in Spain and Prague in the Czech Republic.

A successful season 2
Season two of Foundation has been broadcast since July 14, 2023 on Apple TV+ and has 10 episodes. It is the direct continuation of the first season released in 2021. It therefore still follows the Cleon clan which gradually loses its powers. Meanwhile, a vengeful queen leads a plot to destroy the Empire. Fans also find Jared Harris (Chernobyl) in the lead role of Hari Seldon. Lee Pace (The Fall), Loo Llobell (Voyagers) to reprise their respective characters of the Emperor of the Galaxy and Gaal Dornick (the narrator of the series).
With a budget of $100 million, the series is a real success on the platform. Foundation notably received, through the press, a rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and 3.4% on AlloCiné. And the story of the series is not over. A season three is, in fact, highly anticipated. Despite no official announcement for the latter due to the ongoing strikes in the United States, a date is hoped for by fans. The strike seems to be coming to an end soon, perhaps the public will be in for a surprise in a few weeks.
