What is Gen V?

It is a spin-off of The Boys taking place between the third and fourth seasons. The plot takes place at Godolkin University – a school reserved for superheroes and run by Vought International. We mainly follow Marie Moreau, a young student who can control her blood in order to use it as a weapon. The TV show will also feature the G-Men team (a parody of the X-Men) where there is the antagonist Five Oh. In this university, their skills will be tested. Students will also have to fight to be among the best.

Gen V: what does the press think?

The criticisms should be taken with a grain of salt for the moment. They were, in fact, issued after viewing the first three episodes which will be broadcast on September 29. Gen V is still extremely well received by the press. “Bloody, daring and flamboyant” are the adjectives that come up the most in reviews. For Slant Magazine, for example, the series “features a blend of humor, action and emotional storytelling.” And although it features much younger characters than in The Boys, it does not lose its violence and speaks of “a bloody coming-of-age drama” according to the media Black Girl Nerds. Fans of The Boys will therefore be served, Gen V remains, in fact, in the spirit of the original project to the point of being like “a fantastic and intelligent extension” of it for Beyond The Trailer.

However, mixed reviews are also emerging. Empire expresses, for example, the fact that “Gen V did not attract new registrations”. Despite the spirit of The Boys which is transcribed in the series, the Wall Street Journal admits that the “very violent, excessively bloody and hypersexualized” project is “quite ridiculous”.
