Eight people from Buzău, including two teachers, were pre-arrested for 30 days following searches organized by the Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation Directorate (DIICOT) at a criminal group suspected of large-scale drug operations risk.
The judge of rights and freedoms from the Buzău Court accepted the request of the prosecutors for preventive arrest on behalf of the suspected persons.
“The solution in short: Accept the proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice – Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Buzău Territorial Office. Based on art. 226 Penal Code, art. 223 par. 2 Penal Code related to art. 202 paragraph 1, 3 Penal Code, orders the preventive arrest of the defendants…, for a period of 30 days, starting from 27.09.2023 until the date of 26.10.2023, inclusive. Orders the immediate issuance of preventive arrest warrants. With the right of appeal within 48 hours of the pronouncement”, it is specified in the minutes of the Buzău Court.
Following the searches carried out by the investigators, sums of money, drugs and several scales were seized.
“Following the 26 home searches, carried out in the counties of Buzău, Vrancea, Brăila and Teleorman, 150 grams of chopped vegetable matter (cannabis), 120 grams of white crystallized substance (3-CMC) and 22 cannabis seeds. The police also confiscated 57 tablets, 150 grams of yellow substance (NSP), 17 mobile phones, 6 scales, 1 laptop, 390 euros and 7,900 lei. Thus, after the completion of the hearings, the DIICOT – Buzău Territorial Office prosecutors ordered the detention of 8 suspected persons, and, in relation to another 5, the measure of judicial control was taken”, transmitted the Buzău County Police Inspectorate (IPJ).
Several people from Buzău county, including two substitutes in some educational institutions, are being investigated after allegedly purchasing, using an encrypted online application, cannabis and other high-risk drugs that they – would be paid with cryptocurrency, and the place to pick up the goods was later communicated by the seller via GPS coordinates, judicial sources told Agerpres.
“We remind you that on September 26 this year, police officers of the Buzău Organized Crime Service, together with DIICOT prosecutors – Buzău Territorial Office, carried out 26 house searches, in the counties of Buzău, Vrancea, Brăila and Teleorman, in a case concerning committing the crimes of forming an organized criminal group, high-risk and high-risk drug trafficking, and carrying out operations with products knowing that they are likely to have psychoactive effects, without having a license. From the research, it emerged that, between January and September 2023, several suspects, from Buzău county, allegedly purchased, from people from Vrancea, Brăila and Teleorman counties, various quantities of high risk drugs (cannabis), high risk (3-CMC, MDMB-4en-PINACA) and substances psychoactive substances (2-CMC, ADB-BUTINACA, 5F-MDMB-BUTINACA and 5F-ADB), with a view to commercialization, to consumers in the municipality of Buzău. From the criminal investigation documents carried out, it emerged that the drugs were ordered through online applications encrypted, and the payment would have been made through transfers in the equivalent of a cryptocurrency. The distribution and subsequent sale of the drugs would have taken place without the people meeting, the buyer receiving, after making the payment, a photo and the GPS coordinates of the place where the drugs that had been the subject of the transaction were located. We make it clear that, throughout the criminal process, the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence”, IPJ Buzău previously transmitted.
