The General Secretary of the PNL, Lucian Bode, declared, on Saturday, in Câmpulung, in Argeș county, that the current governing coalition was not formed on political sympathies or friendships, but is a purely pragmatic one that ensures the stability of Romania. Bode added that, in 2024, the PNL must organize itself in such a way as to win all the elections.
“At the national level, we are part of a coalition that has kept Romania afloat during all these extremely difficult years. We managed to keep the country stable and although we were under the pressure of the times and the complicated regional contexts, we managed to build, make investments and develop Romania despite all the overlapping crises, in the three and a half liberal years, with a liberal prime minister , having part of a health crisis, a pandemic, an energy crisis, an economic crisis and now a security crisis at Romania’s borders”, said Lucian Bode, quoted by News.ro.
The general secretary of the PNL also referred to one of the nearly completed investments in Argeş.
“But I would return to what I think we have achieved in these three and a half years, to modernize Romania and build. We are coming from a visit to a bridge in Dâmbovicioara, over the Dâmboviţa river, unique in Romania, so make history because this objective once put into use will be the longest arched bridge in Romania, with a length of 173 meters . But it is not the technical characteristics that are important. When I say that we are rebuilding Romania, I say that in 2020 you were the ones who requested this objective, taking into account the fact that the historical monument bridge has tonnage limits and this investment was needed, and in 2020 the liberals approved the technical and economic indicators, they found financing, almost 10 million euros, from European funds, and at the beginning of the year, in February 2021, this execution contract was signed. Therefore, don’t be ashamed to tell everyone that if this objective is put into use at the end of the month, it is the merit of liberal policies at the county and national level”, said Bode.
Lucian Bode said that the current governing coalition is created to ensure the stability that Romania needs.
“Returning to the governing coalition, it ensures the stability we need in Romania and I don’t think anyone can deny this. It is not a coalition based on political sympathies or friendships, it is a purely pragmatic one. This does not prevent us from manifesting ourselves as liberals and defending our principles and values, correcting what we need to correct in the governing act and supporting liberal measures with arguments,” said Bode.
Also, Lucian Bode referred to the political opponents and showed that the PNL is and will remain the biggest right-wing party.
“When we realize that some habits don’t die overnight, we have to take a stand and fight them. It was not easy and it will not be easy to stay in this coalition, but we must take into account that we are going through complicated times in which Romanians want to live in peace and have a decent living, to know that there is someone responsible in charge the country. Romanians don’t want the AUR circus, nor the USR circus, they don’t want scandal, they don’t want hatred and division in society, they want responsibility and a concrete future plan from us. And we build the future. We, the liberals, are the largest right-wing party and will remain so even after the elections. No matter how much some people try to say that they make a so-called right-wing pole, when in that formula you put a progressive party of political adventurers together with two pocket formations, you can at most say that you are making a rescue vehicle for some leaders who remain without a job, but in no case a serious political construction”, said Bode.
In Lucian Bode’s opinion, PNL must win all the elections in 2024.
“Everything we do now must start from the premise that the PNL must win all the elections and become the president of Romania in 2024. It is an ambitious goal, but the PNL has all the assets to achieve this. It depends on us how we organize ourselves and how we present ourselves to the electorate. The 2024 elections will not only be a test of political maturity, but above all a test of organization and cohesion. For the PNL, the goal of winning the elections is completely justified and legitimate. I urge you to come out to fight, at all levels, to make yourself heard more clearly and resoundingly and impose your point of view in the eyes of the electorate. There will be a period that will put our political resilience to the test and will test everyone’s convictions, it is something expected around an electoral period, but the risks of a disastrous electoral outcome later on can be prevented even now, through an effective internal organization and through a serious political offer, with a political program and serious candidates, along with maintaining the unity of the party”, Lucian Bode also said.
