A new factory opens in 2024
According to the mayor, the investor wants the factory to be operational from January 2024, so that, in April, production can start.
“Since yesterday, we have a new investor in Balş, Hengst Filtration, a multinational, high-level company, which yesterday bought the IAC factory, with which we had countless face-to-face meetings, by teleconference, by video conference. We offered them our state aid scheme (…), we offered them a 50% discount on building and land tax to invest in Balş and they chose to come to Balş.
We are talking about a company founded in 1958, in Westphalia, Germany, which is in the top three in the world in the field of filters – automotive, air conditioning, medical, everything that means the filtering part. A company that relocated a factory from Germany to come to Romania, in Balş (…).
People want to start production in April, they want to let go of the first 100 hires in December, so that in January the factory is functional, and the growth they want, organic, positive, long-term, is minimal several hundred jobs in the next two years”, said Cătălin Rotea, according to Agerpres.

“It’s a moment that this city desperately needed”
The opening of the factory is excellent news for the residents of Balș, given that many currently have to commute daily, being employed in Slatina or Craiova.
“I think it’s a moment that this city needed the most, because beyond all the projects that are being developed now and that are being implemented, there was a need for 300-400 jobs, newly created, apart from those that I told you, to bring them to the city of Balş”, added Rotea.
