The Ministry of Energy announces, Sunday evening, that Unit 1 of CNE Cernavodă has been resynchronized to the National Energy System. Also, the electricity supply was restored for over 80% of the customers affected by the severe weather in south-eastern areas of Romania.
“We remind you that Unit 1 of CNE Cernavodă was automatically disconnected from the national electricity distribution network in the evening of November 18, 2023, as a result of weather conditions that caused disturbances in the national energy system. All procedures took place within the normal technical parameters”, the Ministry of Energy reported on Sunday evening.
The cited source stated that, at the same time, ENEL announces that the Rețele Electrice Dobrogea teams, together with those transferred from the Muntenia area and the contractors’ personnel, have restored the electricity supply to more than 80% of the customers affected by the severe weather in the south-eastern areas of Romania.
“After remedying the incidents in the medium voltage network, the teams will remain on the ground to repair individual and collective disturbances in the low voltage networks. Where it is found that the remediation takes too long, the company will connect the affected households to electric generators”, the ministry officials said.
“We are in permanent contact at the level of the Winter Energy Command with all those involved in solving the challenges that have arisen at the level of the National Energy System, as a result of the extreme meteorological phenomena in the south-eastern area of Romania.
My thanks go to the intervention teams who did their duty in difficult conditions. ENEL, Transelectrica and the other operators involved acted professionally and promptly.
The national energy system has proven its ability to function in correct conditions in extreme situations, with wind gusts exceeding 100 km/h. The problems that arose were local, not endangering the stability of the national energy system.
In particular, I thank the specialists from Nuclearelectrica for the resynchronization of Unit 1 in a very short time, during the course of tomorrow it is scheduled to operate at nominal power”, said Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy.
