The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, launched on Sunday an exhortation to the population of the localities where the second round of local elections is taking place “to go to the polls and decide who will lead their locality”.
“People need local public administrations that correctly and efficiently manage the budget of localities and mayors who solve the problems of the inhabitants”, said Sandu, according to Agerpres.
She also conveyed that “Moldova deserves to be a member of the European Union” and that “Moldovans deserve to have living conditions at home like in European countries”, but for this it is necessary that the localities be led by “honest mayors, who know how to increase the locality’s budget by creating the conditions for business development and attracting projects”.
“Moldovans deserve to have living conditions at home like in European countries, no matter in which region they live. Moldova deserves to be a member of the European Union and we can achieve this goal only together – the central administration, the local administration and all the citizens. Go out to vote and decide freely how you want your locality to be”, added the president of the Republic of Moldova.
The population with the right to vote from 273 localities in the Republic of Moldova goes to the polls on Sunday in the second round of local elections for the position of mayor.
The second round of voting is organized after, two weeks ago, on November 5, none of the candidates for the position of mayor obtained the simple majority of votes necessary to be declared elected.
