A teacher of Romanian language and literature, who teaches at the Mihai Eminescu National College in Constanța, is under disciplinary investigation after she went to classes drunk. The incident took place 10 days ago and, according to the local media, the woman would have crashed over some cars when she wanted to go up the stairs at the entrance to the school. “It is not the first time that he comes in a special state”, say the representatives of IȘJ Constanța.
The incident took place on Friday, November 10, at the Mihai Eminescu College in Constanța. The teacher, who teaches Romanian language and literature, went to classes in an advanced state of intoxication, writes the local press.
When she wanted to climb the stairs at the entrance of the college, the woman lost her balance and fell over the cars parked nearby. Initially, the teacher’s colleagues thought that the woman was feeling sick. When they realized that she smelled strongly of alcohol, they alerted management, who called her husband to take her home.
“I know the situation. The lady teacher, who has been in education for many years, rated as a very good teacher, came in a special state. She was led into the office of the headmistress, and her husband came and took her. It’s not the first time he’s come in a special state. And at the beginning of last year, he came in a special state, then he immediately went on leave… he came back in August 2023. We’ll do checks, make sure that the educational unit with whom the teacher has a contract, to take the necessary legal measures”, the representatives of IȘJ Constanța sent, immediately after the incident, to Jurnalul de Constanța.
Meanwhile, the disciplinary investigation procedure was opened at the level of the educational unit. It is possible to go as far as canceling the employment contract, say the representatives of IȘJ Constanța.
“We monitored the situation. The commission met, it is under analysis. Related to the sanctions are those specified in the pre-university education law and, as far as I know, they are the same as in the national education law, which was repealed on September 3. It starts from reprimand, from the reduction of the salary for a limited period and can go as far as the termination of the employment contract, but that is at the discretion of the committee and especially at the discretion of the board of directors of the educational unit, depending on what they can prove, the hearing the teaching staff”, said Sorin Mihai, the general inspector of ISJ Constanța, for Replica Online these days.
The teacher was also director of the “Mihai Eminescu” college, from 2006 to 2017. In 2018, she would have also received a diploma of merit from the Constanța County School Inspectorate, local media journalists write.
