After his election as interim head of PNL Bucharest, Sebastian Burduja stated that European data show that Bucharest is a more developed city than Madrid, Berlin, Copenhagen or Amsterdam, having the highest rate of growth, but it is in last place to the public administration quality index. “I argued in front of my colleagues that we should really be “by ourselves”, as Vintilă Brătianu, a former mayor of Bucharest, by the way, said. This means coming to the people of Bucharest with the best offer”, added the leader interim member of PNL Bucharest and Minister of Energy.
“I would like to thank my colleagues from the National Office for the trust they have given me today and for this appointment as interim president of the Bucharest branch of PNL. I am aware that it is a particularly difficult mission. On the one hand, because the time it is very short for the preparation of the next round of elections, on the other hand because Bucharest’s stake is a special one.
In political terms, Bucharest gives the signal for the entire country, including for the PNL. In economic terms, Bucharest is the main engine of development for Romania and we know that, together with the bordering area, it means half of Romania’s GDP, from everything that is produced in Romania. We know, at the same time, that this municipality needs liberal solutions. He needs a development, he needs to breathe, he needs to get out of the state of paralysis in which he has been for years and years. Either from causes related to corruption, or from causes related to carelessness or causes related to pure incompetence,” said Sebastian Burduja, after Monday’s BPN of the PNL, notes news.ro.
He also said that, according to European statistics, Bucharest is more developed than other cities such as Madrid, Berlin, Copenhagen or Amsterdam, but regarding the public administration quality index, Bucharest is in last place.
“Bucharest, according to all European data, is a more developed city than Madrid, Berlin, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and any other capital in central and eastern Europe and has the highest growth rate. Also according to European data, according to the quality index of the administration public, Bucharest is the last. So it is the worst administered city, capital in the EU. This is today’s reality.
I am convinced that PNL has the best examples of development, of local policies. I saw them in Cluj, Oradea, Piatra Neamţ, Reşita. I saw them in Sector 6 in Bucharest, which means a liberal administration and a short period of time in which Sector 6 took on a different face. That’s why I argued in front of my colleagues that we should really be “by ourselves”, as Vintilă Brătianu, a former mayor of Bucharest, said. This means coming to the people of Bucharest with the best offer, with the best leaders, because forgive me, but as a Bucharest native born in Bucharest, I wake up in the morning and it’s possible that I don’t have hot water or I walk on the street and it’s possible tripping because the sidewalk hasn’t been rehabilitated for decades or I’m walking through Cişmigiu park and it’s possible that I won’t get out of there all right because of various phenomena.
So it hurts your soul to have the most developed capital in the entire region, with a GDP higher than that of Bulgaria and many other countries in the region, and for it to be a city that simply looks like a village without dogs, or at least a city without leaders”, explained Burduja.
