Shakira is going through the hardest time of her life. The artist has been involved in a scandal for a long time, after trying to defraud the Spanish state. The star received her sentence today, when she appeared before the Spanish prosecutors, where she learned that she is good to pay. The artist accepted a fine of millions of euros so as not to end up behind bars.
Shakira escaped from prison
Shakira is in big trouble with the law after she stopped paying her taxes to the state. This ended up in the hands of the judges, after defrauding the state with over 14 million euros. Although he tried to apologize, he could not prove himself right and today he received his sentence.
Because she did not pay taxes to the state between 2012-2014, Shakira was judged. Prosecutors in Barcelona argued that the famous singer spent more than half of that two-year period in Spain and therefore should have paid taxes in the country, even though her official residence was in the Bahamas.
Thus, the punishment for Shakira consisted of eight years and two months in prison and the payment of a fine of 23.5 million euros. Later, the judges decided that Shakira should be sentenced to three years in prison with suspension and to pay a fine of 7.3 million euros.
In order to escape prison, the star agreed to those established by the law enforcement officers and thus will end up paying this colossal amount.
“Do you recognize the facts and comply with the new sanctions that have been requested?” asked judge Jose Manuel del Amo Sanchez, to which Shakira answered affirmatively, a sign that she accepts the facts.

At the same time, according to the information published by El Pais, Shakira is obliged to repay the amount with which she caused damage to the Spanish state, and in addition, to pay an additional fine of 430,000 euros.

Shakira said that she wants to be an example for everyone, especially her children. The artist says that she took on the whole situation to protect the little ones from such incidents and to give them the peace they need.
“I have to choose my battles carefully. The most important thing now is to do everything for my children to have a peaceful life. The most important thing for me is to see them grow up and spend time with them. I didn’t want to make them suffer and see me go through a trial,” Shakira said.â
