Many Romanians wonder what the weather will be like during the mini-holiday on December 1. It has already started snowing in the mountains, while the temperatures in Bucharest have dropped considerably during this period. It’s not much longer and the meteorologists announce that winter is coming into its own. Here is what the weather will be like in the mountains and in Bucharest at the end of November and the beginning of December.
ANM announcement about the weather
The weather after the passing of the polar cyclone that also affected Romania will be quite variable. Florinela Georgescu, the director of ANM, provided details about the next period.

She described the weather expectations for the next period, explaining that there will be changes every two to three days. While sleet and snow will be recorded in the mountains, precipitation in the form of rain is expected in the plain areas.
“For the next period, at least next week and, I would say, the week after, until the end of this month at least, the weather will be very changeable, with changes every two to three days. There will be episodes of precipitation, especially in the mountains, in the form of sleet and snow at altitudes above 1400 meters. In the hilly areas, we will have mixed precipitation, while in the plains, predominantly, it will rain”, said Florinela Georgescu, director of forecasts at ANM.
The polar cyclone in the Black Sea has moved away. According to her, in the next two days it will rain again in almost all of Romania. Temperatures will drop significantly. In the next period it will be 18 degrees Celsius in the south.

However, the National Meteorological Administration also brings good news. Temperatures will be generally above normal over the next period across most of the country.
Next week, rainfall amounts will be around the usual average for this season in most of the country.

Between November 27 and December 4, the weather changes and average temperatures will be slightly higher than the normal average for this period in all regions.
Romanians have reason to be happy, because they will have beautiful weather during the mini-holiday from November 30 to December 1 with temperatures higher than the usual average for this period.
Those who choose to go to the mountains will enjoy the snow, considering that it has already snowed and deposited a considerable layer of snow for this period.
Looking ahead to the Christmas and New Year holidays, Florinela Georgescu indicated that there is a chance of snow, especially in the mountain area, but the uncertainty is greater in the lower areas.
More severe weather phenomena are expected to occur in the second part of winter, after January, according to the ANM representative.
“Regarding the winter holidays, the simplest answer I can give right now is that all these episodes with more snow-like precipitation will favor at least a layer of snow in the mountain area during that time.
For the lower part, the uncertainty is much greater”, said Florinela Georgescu.
“Taking into account the last winters, the first seasonal estimates, the most severe phenomena are more likely in the second part of winter, not in December.
Last season ended with a very spectacular blizzard on April 4 in the region of Moldova. It was a bigger layer of snow than during the whole of last winter”, she continued.
