News culture “an incredible collaborator” The Alien series on Disney+ in good hands. Even Ridley Scott is involved
We received some news regarding the Alien series which has already been announced for a long time. The father of the franchise is also working on the project!
It’s already been 44 years since Ridley Scott terrorized us with his terrible creature in Alien, the Eighth Passenger. The xenomorph has had a long journey between three sequels by three different directors (James Cameron, David Fincher and Jean-Pierre Jeunet), two crossovers with the Predador franchise and finally two prequels directed by Ridley Scott himself. Although the latter two did not enjoy great critical success, their director remains the father of the alien and Noah Hawley, the director of the next series, understands this well. Indeed, the Alien series which was announced in 2020 and which is intended for the Disney+ platform is in the hands of Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo) and he recently explained, in an interview for Hollywood Reporterthat he often consults the creator of the saga for his new project.
He was an incredible collaborator, to the extent that I was able to dissect his brain, but also his different processes, decisions and learnings. I try to keep him in the loop, send him what we’re doing so he feels respected and included. But he does his own thing.
Ridley Scott is not officially credited on the project, but follows it closely and expresses his opinions. This is also what he did not fail to do two years ago in an interview for Independent : “The Alien series will never be as good as the first film, that’s what I say.” The man therefore leaves feeling defeated about this new adaptation. However, we can count on the 85-year-old filmmaker to speak frankly what he thinks and guide Noah Hawley. After all, the series follows in the story lines of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, the last two films in the saga directed by the original creator.

What we know about the Alien series
Indeed, the series should also take place before the events of Alien, the eighth passenger. We will follow our protagonists on Earth even before Ellen Ripley leaves for LV-426 and meets the xenomorph. We have no additional information regarding the storyline, but we already know some elements of the casting. The lead role was given to Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling, Pistol). She will star alongside Alex Lawther (The End of the Fucking World, Andor) and Essie Davis (Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions). As for release date, nothing has been communicated yet. However, we know that filming should resume in January 2024 following the actors’ and writers’ strike which recently brought Hollywood to a standstill. We can therefore expect it for 2025 at least. In the meantime, we can wait with the new film, Alien: Romulus, which Ridley Scott loved and which should be released next year.
