Today, a player in the Primera Divison, Ianis contributed to the National team’s qualification for EURO 2024 with the goal scored in the match against Israel, but he still has a hop to go, together with his teammates, in the last match against Switzerland.
On the other hand, Simona Halep, the former world number one, is currently going through difficult times, due to the doping scandal in which she was involved, and especially due to the ITIA’s decision to suspend her until 2026.

Her case, although the athlete maintained her innocence, became one of the topics that went around the world, creating real polemics, many of them coming from the Romanian’s rivals, such as Serene Williams.

Invited to the latest podcast, produced by Mihai Crăcun, the journalist Radu Banciu, in addition to many other topics discussed, was provoked to talk about the two athletes, and his lines were no different than usual, acidic opinions about Ianis Hagi and Simona Halep.
Speaking in the first phase about the young Ianis Hagi, Radu Banciu would admit that he did not follow his sporting performances, but, nevertheless:
“Sure, his international career is inflated, it’s obvious. They took the net with him, but it was at some small clubs. He is not a quality player, but Ianis Hagi is that necessity to pay attention to.
(…) And the attitude of the press… No one was able to recognize this. Mutu didn’t do much after the suspension either. He did not overcome that period very well, he played again, but not at the same level.
Nowadays you don’t find people like Răducioiu, Mutu or Chivu in football anymore, today’s players are a disaster”, says Radu Banciu.

Regarding Simona Halep, although he is not the first to comment on her activity, journalist Radu Banciu tried to bring up an obvious element, at least from his point of view, namely that:
“(…) She was a girl who wouldn’t have ended up in our conversations if she wasn’t Romanian, right? That means it was no big deal.
Like Serena Williams or Steffi Graf… They enter the conversation even if they are not Romanian. Simona Halep would not have been noticed by us, that’s what I think.
We made all this mess because we wanted to stand out a little, forgetting all the basics of sport,” the controversial journalist also declared.

Regarding his journalistic activity, and asked by Marius Crăciun, “who is Radu Banciu?“, the journalist answered as directly as possible:
“I have the same road, I am the same person both at home and on the street. I have nothing to hide, I go by taxi or tram, I haven’t changed in any way
I remained the same as the one on the school benches. Many have changed their route, not me. I’ve had so many bosses, so many bosses and I haven’t changed. You don’t have to model yourself after others. That depends on everyone.”
